20th December, 1939.
Dear Mr. Tewson,
NAT. JOINT COM., FOR SPANISH RELIEF. Your ref. HVT/EK./434
I brought your letter concerning the relationship of the I.S.F., with the above-mentioned Joint Committee can before our General Committee at its meeting on Monday.
As a result I was directed to send you the enclosed cheque (£2.) and to ask that it be used to aid the International Brigade men still in France. I was also directed to urge a closer co-operation between the International Solidarity Fund and the Joint Committee. Some of our members mentioned that they were receiving regular news of what the latter was doing while our Fund told them little or nothing.
If therefore you can send me anything that will help dispel this prejudice, I will see that it is sent to the right quarter.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your staff as pleasant a Christmas as is possible under present conditions and all my good wishes for 1940?
C. R. Goodchild,
HON. GENERAL SECRETARY.
