NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LABOUR.
25th August 1936.
A special meeting of the National Council of Labour was held at Transport House today (Tuesday) to consider the Spanish situation and its international implications. Reports were made to the Council of the joint meetings of the International Federation of Trade Unions and the Labour and Socialist International at the end of July and again last week, and of the meeting between the representatives of organised Labour and the Foreign Secretary (Mr. Eden) in London last Wednesday.
After full discussion it was decided that a meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party, the National Executive of the Labour Party and the General Council of the T.U.C. should be held on Friday morning next at Transport House at 10 a.m.
The National Council will meet again on Thursday afternoon. Officers of the National Council are again seeking an opportunity to meet Mr. Eden to discuss recent developments in the international situation.
