Dear Mr. Carillo,
Ricardo Zabalza.
We have duly received your letter of the 28th instant with reference to Comrade Ricardo Zabalza and others who you say it is feared have been sentenced to death by the Courts in Spain.
Comrades Lamoneda and Schevenels in Paris have also written us about the case of Comrade Vega. We have accordingly made official approaches which we hope will be of help to our Comrades.
If General Franco is to carry out the promise he made at the end of last year that measures would be taken to ensure that "justice would be calm and even generous" there may be some hope of at least the lives of our comrades being spared.
Yours faithfully,
General Secretary.
