OXFORD.
Dear Mr. Araquistain,
LARGO CABALLERO.
We have received your letter of the 13th of November with regard to the case of our friend Largo Caballero.
As you say the present delicate state of relations between England and Spain make intervention on his behalf very difficult for the British Ambassador there.
For your own information I may say that we have already written to Lord Halifax at length about his case, and have pressed him to take all steps in his power to urge clemency on the Spanish Authorities.
We sincerely hope that our intervention will produce the desired result.
Yours sincerely,
Assistant Secretary.
