Letter Sit Espagne
No. 177
26th April 1937,
Mr Walter M. Citrine,
London.
Dear Comrade Citrine,
I returned to-day from my last visit to Spain, in company with Comrade Adler, where, amongst other things, I was able to have a talk with Comrade Pascual Tomas about the presence of Pitcairn in the London Conference of the 10th and 11th March.
Comrade Tomas explained that, when they arrived in London, they arranged to have an exact and complete translation of every speech, especially of the English speeches, and they therefore obtained - from whom he was unable to remember - the collaboration of Pitcairn in this capacity.
When I had informed Comrade Tomas who Pitcairn was and the abuse he made of his presence in the meeting for the Communist paper, Comrade Tomas was very concerned, and said that they would be much more careful in future and take all precautions to prevent the recurrence of such an incident.
Yours sincerely,
W. Schevenels,
General Secretary
