Comrades,
Once more we find ourselves obliged to have recourse to your Labour organisation and to appeal to your fraternal solidarity. The Spanish working-class is undergoing at this time one of the most brutal repressions known hitherto to history. Vaticanist Fascism which is in power but which feels its end approaching, is redoubling its cruelty of repression and increasing the number of its victims each day. Up till now, the Spanish workers have faced up to adversity, presenting to the world the magnificent sight of their generous disinterestedness. At the cost of sacrifices, the number of which is known to them alone, they have given up a part of their wretched wage to help their unfortunate comrades. Their sacrifice even bordered on heroism, but it has now reached the zenith of its effort. It can do no more. But there are still many Widows and orphans who require assistance. The number of prisoners exceeds 30,000. The number of workers who must be saved from bourgeois justice is incalculable. The expense of trials is enormous. There are victims of reprisals everywhere.
We can do no more. All our resources and reserves are exhausted. The solidarity of the Spanish workers has reached the limit of what it can do.
And so we come to you, trusting to your class solidarity. Do not remain deaf to the anguished appeal of the Spanish workers who solicit once again your financial assistance. Do not be sparing and you will share in the final triumph of the Spanish workers over the Vaticanist Fascism which is tyrannising over them.
Yours in the cause of Labour,
(Signed) ?
