Dear Sir (or Madam),
The National Council of Labour desires to draw your attention, and that of your Executive Council, to the statement regarding the position of our Spanish Trade Unionist and Socialist comrades, as set out in the enclosed reprint of an article which appeared in the "Daily Herald" on August 27. The writer, Ramos Oliveira, is very fully informed as to the situation now prevailing, the imminent danger in which so many of the Spanish prisoners now stand, and the real need that has overtaken many of their dependants.
On behalf of the International Solidarity Fund, the National Council asks all Affiliated Trade Unions and Labour Parties to give this Appeal their early and serious attention. The Council fully realises the splendid help that our various Organisations contributed to assist our German and Austrian comrades, and would urge them now to respond to this Appeal also, to the very utmost of their financial ability.
Cheques, Money Orders or Postal Orders, should be addressed to the
Trades Union Congress,
Transport House, Smith Square, London, S.W.I.
On behalf of the National Council of Labour,

(Trades Union Congress)
