BASQUE REFUGEES
Your letter of the 11th instant was considered by the General Council of the Trades Union Congress at their meeting this week and, in view of the fact that the General Council's connection with the Basque Children's Fund has been entirely through the National Council of Labour, the matter was referred to that body.
In view of all the circumstances it was finally decided to assist further the work which your Committee has in hand, but to intimate that responsibility for further grants could not be entertained. A final grant of £300 was made, however, and I have pleasure in enclosing our cheque for that sum, an official receipt for which I shall be glad to receive in due course.
