I am obliged to you for your letter of the 28th November, which was respected by my General Council when they considered the appeal for assistance received from the above-mentioned body.
I think, however, that I should let you know that we have been advised that the following organisations have actually responded to this appeal:-
The National Union of Railwaymen, The National Union of Printing, Bookbinding and Paper Workers, The Miners' Federation of Great Britain, The Fire Brigades Union, The Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers, The National Union of Scottish Mine Workers, The South Wales Miners' Federation, The Mental Hospital and Institutional Workers' Union, The Tobacoo Workers' Union, The Constructional Engineering Union.
As these organisations have an important standing in the Trade Union movement and in a number of cases have actually representatives on your General Council, it seems quite fair to enquire whether you consider the present position satisfactory.
