19th. January, 1938.
Mr. Tom Williams, M.P.,
"Cartref"
Town Moor Avenue,
DONCASTER.
Dear Mr. Tom Williams,
I have been requested by the members of the Spanish Medical Aid Committee, of which I am Chairman, to ask whether you will be kind enough to speak for them at a Demonstration which it is proposed to held on the 16th February, in support of their Campaign for funds for rendering medical aid to the Spanish Government. Lord Addison will be in the Chair and Mr. Attlee will be one of the speakers.
If Parliament were sitting I would have approached you personally, as you will remember me as a Member of the House with you in 1929-31, and I would have preferred to do this by personal contact. But as the house is not sitting I am venturing to write to you, in the hope that my letter will be as persuasive in securing a favourable reply as I think I would be if I had seen you personally.
Yours sincerely,
Chairman,
Spanish Medical Aid Committee.
