Item 18. Spanish Situation.
(b) Representatives from France. (See also G.C. Minute 47)
Sir Walter Citrine reported that he had seen certain Labour representatives from France and he would report when the Minutes of the National Council of Labour were before the meeting.
Item 5. Spain. (See also Minute 18 of Finance & General Purposes Committee)
Sir Walter Citrine reported that on the previous day, Tuesday, he had seen Messrs. Longuet, (Senior and Junior), Morizet and Belin, who were members of a French Delegation which had asked for an interview with him. He had made it quite clear to them that he received them as members of the French Socialist Party and the Confederation General du Travail. He could not receive them as representing the International Committee of Co-ordination & Information for the Aid of the Spanish Republic, nor was he ready to receive any other members of the Delegation who were not directly connected with the French Socialist or Trade Union Movement.
The members of the Delegation fully accepted that view and the interview proceeded on that pre-understanding. Sir Walter informed the General Council
