Dear Sir Walter,
Thanks for your letter of 25th. Of course I can only acquiesce. Indeed I quite appreciate your position, but I don't think your Committee makes proper allowances for mine. I am barred from appealing to the Trades Unionists in Scotland who are a very large and collectively well to do body, because they told me that their funds for such purposes are centralised in your hands and it was for me to apply to you.
I am none the less grateful for what you did at the beginning and shall just try to "pay and look pleasant".
