HISTORY OF CASE
1937. 
April 30 - May 5 	In reply to enquiry, Deptford & Greenwich Trades Council informed that reason why grant to Spanish Medical Aid Committee ceased was because this Committee took a certain course which meant they were no longer responsible for the maintenance of their units, which was a responsibility in connection with which the grants were made.
May 3 	Southampton Joint Council send further £10 (making £55) for Ray Cox Memorial Anaesthetic Apparatus.
May 4 	I.F.T.U. request that question of appointment and remuneration of Dr. &  Mrs. Sligo as surgeon and nurse at Onteniente Hospital be deferred pending settlement of terms on which other surgeons are engaged.
May 11 	I.F.T.U. send 4 photographs of ambulance provided by donation of Amalgamated Weavers' Association. Three forwarded to Weavers, May 13.
May 21  	We enquired of I.F.T.U. whether they had had opportunity of coming to a decision about services of Dr. Sligo (see May 4).   A promise was received that the matter would be pursued.
June 5 	Press notice from Scottish Medical Unit, describing the bombing and machine-gunning of the unit and appealing for funds.
June 8 	Following on further donation from the Southampton Joint Council, request sent to I.F.T.U.  for photograph of apparatus.
July 17 	I.F.T.U. informed that services of Dr. & Mrs. Sligo no longer available. 
July 29 	Sir Daniel Stevenson, Scottish Ambulance Unit in Spain, asks whether lack of a single cordial letter from Sir Walter Citrine is due to reports spread by three members of the Unit who had deserted.  Explanation given on 30 July that absence of communication was due to need of concentrating on International Solidarity Fund, which was absorbing all energies and resources.
July 31  	Further request from Southampton Joint Council for copy of photograph of Ray Cox Memorial Anaesthetic apparatus. Transmitted to I.F.T.U., who wrote to W. Schevenels who was in Spain on the spot.
August 9 	Scottish Ambulance Unit in Spain announce forthcoming visit of Miss Jacobsen, leader of Unit, to London; this was postponed on account of absence of Sir Walter Citrine.
August 26  	Consequent upon visit of W. Elger, reporting on difficulties of Scottish Ambulance Unit, in re-equipping unit for return to Spain, a letter sent to Sir Daniel Stevenson regretting that the commitment of the Basque children, and declining contributions precluded possibility of contributing towards the re-equipment.
The postponed visit of Miss Jacobsen was suggested for the Thursday of Friday preceding opening of Congress, and was impossible to arrange.
