REPORT OF VISIT TO SPANISH HOSPITAL AT ONTINIENTE.

Preliminary.
1. At the request of Sir Walter Citrine I took a day off during my visit to Spain inspecting hospitals and paid a visit to the I.F.T.U. Hospital at Ontiniente on Wednesday, the 4th August.
2. On the journey through France, as we had to motor quite near Paris, I went into Paris to confirm my visit in person to Mr. Schevenels, although I knew that Sir Walter had already communicated the proposal to him. Mr. Schevenels was very busy and could only be seen by us for a few minutes, but as he was also visiting Spain on the 4th August, he arranged that I should take that day off from my other duties and meet him at the Victoria Hotel, Valencia, at 11 a.m. or after. The exact hour could not be specified, as Mr. Schevenels did not know when he would be free from his important interviews with the Ministers in Valencia. The proposal was that I should accompany Mr. Schevenels on his visit to the Ontiniente Hospital.
3. On the evening of Tuesday, the 3rd August, I left a note for Mr. Schevenels at the Victoria Hotel, Valencia, indicating my presence in Valencia, and informing him that I was resident at the Hotel Ingles, Valencia, would wait on him at the hotel at 11 a.m. and subsequently, and that in any case word at the Hotel Ingles would reach me. I attended at the Victoria Hotel, Valencia, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the 4th August, and in spite of the fact that I was assured by the hotel entourage, both at the entrance and at the enquiry office, that Mr. Schevenels was not staying at the hotel and had not arrived there and was not
