Sir Walter Citrine,
General Secretary,
Trade Union Congress,
Transport House,
Smith Square,
S.W.1.
Dear Sir Walter,
I take this opportunity of bringing before your Executive Council, through you, the position of the Fund being raised by the Dependants Aid Committee for the widows of the men killed in Spain and the permanently disabled men of the British Battalion of the International Brigade.
You will remember we have previously approached your Council with a view to a donation being given from the International Solidarity Fund. You will remember also that on occasion moneys have been sent through the International Solidarity Fund to our Committee.
Since that time, on the suggestion of a number of leading Trade Unionists we have started a Memorial Trust Fund, part of the original Fund, but now in Trust. The Trustees of this Fund are Mr. J.C. Little, Mr Will Lawther, Mr D.N. Pritt K.C.,M.P., and Mr. Fred Copeman, and its job is to obtain the sum of £20,000. It will be used at the discretion of the Trustees in the purchase of annuities and the distribution of grants to those who at that time still depend upon our Committee.
