Mr. A. Taylor,
The Rossendale Union of Boot, Shoe and Slipper Operatives,
7, Tenterfield Street,
Waterfoot,
Rossendale.
Dear Mr. Taylor,
INTERNATIONAL BRIGADE NATIONAL MEMORIAL FUND.
I have your letter of the 11th inst. stating that you are considering making a grant to the International Brigade Memorial Fund and asking our opinion on this body.
The Memorial Fund was inaugurated by the International Brigade Wounded and Dependants Aid Committee. The latter is not a proscribed organisation and it is known that some of our Unions have contributed to its funds. The General Council have received requests for grants from the Committee but in view of the fact that our appeal for Spain was made specifically for workers in Spain the General Council decided that they were unable to accede to these requests. No grant has therefore been made by the General Council either to the Dependants and Wounded Aid Committee or to the International Memorial Fund.
Yours sincerely,
Assistant Secretary.
