Dear Mr. Elger,
Scottish Ambulance Unit.
Thank you for your letter of the 3rd November, enclosing the correspondence you have had with Sir Daniel Stevenson, and the letter he issued to the Trade Unions.
I have been considering whether we could help the Scottish Ambulance Unit and I wrote to Dollan, whose name was mentioned by Stevenson in the correspondence, for some particulars about the Ambulance Unit. I have had no reply to that letter.
I feel myself that it is a service that ought to be helped and I was thinking in terms of recommending that a substantial amount should be sent to them. However, you will be aware those grants are being made from the International Solidarity Fund.
I have been in touch with the other administrators of the Fund and we are having a meeting on Friday next, the outcome of which I feel will be that a grant will be made to the Scottish Ambulance Unit. I have simply told Stevenson that we are
