Dear Sirs,
re Shipment of Surgical Dressings to Spain.
We thank you for your letter of yesterday, and in order to assist you in this matter, and in order to settle this matter without further delay, we would agree to settle the question of gratuity to the Captain on the basis of  £4 -s -d and we shall have to pay the remainder out of our own pockets.
We still feel however, that in view of the nature of the shipment and the port to which the vessel was bound, the sum of £5 -s -d is not excessive.
However, we can only leave this matter for your consideration, as we are entirely in your hands.
