Dear Sir,
Our Association is leading a national Campaign for the relief and for the release of our 3000 comrades, who are still held in the concentration camps of Vichy France. Proved as the avowed enemies of fascism, with no foreign government to protect them, their survival depends on the force of world public opinion and the solidarity of antifascists in all countries. We are urging the American government to intervene on their behalf, and it is gratifying to note that our Campaign has already met with considerable response from many quarters. You may have noticed that this problem is now receiving support in some of the national and local papers. But this is not enough. Much more can and must be done.
Our comrades are literaly starving to death. Through the International Red Cross in Geneva we have been able to send them £ 580 recently. This was very little, but it showed our comrades that they have not been forgotten.
To get wider publicity and greater support for our Campaign we have arranged a big meeting and concert to be held at the Cambridge Theatre on Saturday, September the 20th 1941 at 3 p.m. For this meeting we want, of course, a full attendance and a record collection.
