Dear Mr. Schevenels,
AID FOR SPAIN.
Referring to my conversation with you on the telephone on the 31st March, you will remember that I said that the Amalgamated Weavers' Association had decided to make a grant of £250 plus a contribution of £500 to equip a field ambulance. You then stated that there would be no difficulty whatever in meeting this special request of the Weavers' Association.
In order that we may satisfy them that their request has been acceded to I am enclosing a cheque for £500, earmarked for the purpose of providing the ambulance, which I understand will be very welcome in connection with the work of our base hospital.
When you have completed arrangements it would be very useful if you could intimate that the ambulance has been dispatched to the base hospital, and just refer to the valuable service which it will be able to render. We can then forward a copy of your letter to the Weavers' Association.
