Dear Sirs,
The International Brigade Association are holding a Memorial Meeting in Manchester on July 6th, to commemorate the death of George Brown, who was a delegate to the above Council for many years and had the respect of the Council, and 37 other Manchester lads who gave their lives in the Spanish Revolution.
My Council are agreed that we should be represented at this Memorial Meeting, out of respect for our late delegate G Brown, but we wish to be quite sure that no objection can be taken from the point of view of the movement generally.
I am therefore requested to enquire from you as to the standing of this organisation, are they a proscribed body?.
Personally I see no objection in attending the Memorial meeting especially under the circumstances and I shall be much obliged if you will let me have a reply before Wednesday next June 17th as our Council meets on that date.
On behalf of the above Council
Yours sincerely
W.J. Munro
Secretary.
