HELP FOR THE WORKERS OF SPAIN FUND.
I am enclosing our official receipt in respect of the further 10,000 dollars forwarded by you. We have also received direct 5,000 dollars from the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America for which a receipt was sent to Mr. Schlossberg. I should like again to express our very deep appreciation of this very valuable support coming from our American colleagues.
The whole of the money has been paid into the account of the International Federation of Trade Unions, a practice which is also adopted in to case of the proceeds of our British Fund.
In my last cable to you I gave very brief particulars as to what is happening and I would now set forth in more detail information which will be useful to you on your side in securing further contributions.
Our own Fund now exceeds £10,000, and a similar amount has been raised in France. The appeal of the International Federation of Trade Unions find the Labour and Socialist International has been responded to in other democratic countries. The Fund is administered by a Joint Committee of the two Internationals who are in the closest touch with responsible representatives of the Trade Union and Political Movement in Spain.
No money is being sent into Spain and we are informed that at the moment this is not necessary.
