No. 605
14th April, 1939.
To the Members of the Executive.
Dear Comrade Citrine,
On the 11th April, the Conference of International Trade Secretariats, convened by the decision of the Executive at its meeting in London on the 29th and 30th March, was held in Paris to consider the coordination of the relief work for Spanish refugees. The minutes of the meeting are attached.
In execution of the wishes expressed by this Conference, an appeal for used clothing, underclothing and shoes for the men, women and child refugees from Spain has been sent out to National Centres and International Trade Secretariats.
The Conference also decided to set up an "IFTU/ITS Committee for the Spanish Refugees", to co-ordinate the work, and this committee is composed of seven members - one representative of the IFTU, one from the French National Trade Union Centre, and one each from the Trade Secretariats of the Public Services, Transportworkers, Miners, Employees and Teachers.
From the minutes of the meeting and the two circulars which are attached herewith, one addressed to National Centres and one to Trade Secretariats, you will see the exact nature of the decisions taken, particularly as regards the constitution of the IFTU/ITS Committee and its tasks.
Yours sincerely,
W. Schevenels.
General Secretary.

Enclosures.
Sir W. M. Citrine.
