I desire to thank you for your letter of the 18th instant and for the donation of £5. from your Party to our Fund for Finland. I can assure you that this is very much appreciated and I have pleasure in enclosing our official receipt.
FUND OF THE TYNESIDE AND DISTRICT SPANISH SHIP COMMITTEE.
With regard to your query concerning the fund of the Tyneside and District Spanish Ship Committee which is working in conjunction with the "All London Aid Spain Council" we are aware that the Tyneside and District Spanish Ship Committee existed some time ago in order to send food to Spain, but we are not aware of their present appeal.
So far as the money which was subscribed to our International Solidarity Fund for Spain is concerned we have still our liability for the maintenance of Spanish seamen in Ports in this country of whom there are at present about 120. We are visualising, however, having to suspend the maintenance of these men in the near future on account of lack of funds.
I would suggest that if any grant is made from your Party in respect of Spanish relief it might be
