Sir Walter Citrine,
National Council of Labour,
Transport House,
Smith Square, S.W.1.
Dear Sir Walter Citrine,
I have to thank you very much for the cheque for £1,000 which you have handed over to our Women's Committee, to be spent on clothing for Spain.
I have had an interview with the Commercial Attache to-day who advised me as to the things that are most urgently needed, and I have arranged to visit the C.W.S. along with the Chairman of the Committee to-morrow to arrange for the purchase of the goods.
I have had a talk with Mr. Tewson, who informs me he has been in touch by telephone with the Assistant Secretary of the C.W.S. in Manchester, with a view to getting the maximum amount of goods for the money.
I hope it will be possible to have the goods despatched as early as possible, but sailings to Spain are very irregular as we have found when negotiating for the despatch of knitted garments some weeks ago, but the Commercial Attache advised us to-day of a boat that was leaving on 30th December with goods which they had ordered.
