Confirming our Mr. Thompson's visit to you yesterday, and our to-day's telephonic conversations, we attach hereto details of the orders we have booked on your behalf for immediate shipment to Valencia.
As agreed, we have arranged shipment of the bulk of the commodities ordered by s.s. PIZARRO (not s.s. CARPIO) from London on the 19th instant, but in accordance with the authority you gave to-day, we are shipping the Corned Beef and the Dried Cod by s.s. PELAYO from Liverpool on the 21st instant. As explained these items are lying in the Liverpool district and there in consequently a considerable saving in effecting shipment from the latter port instead of from London.
In the attached list of your purchases, we are, of course, shewing the prices f.o.b. - with the exception of Sugar and are shewing the value of freight and insurance separately for your guidance.
In regard to Sugar, we regret that since first submitting to you the quotation of 8/5d per cwt there has been a marked advance in prices, and we thank you for the instruction you gave us this afternoon to buy £2,500 worth (c.i.f. value) of British Refined Sugar at the most advantageous price possible.
