Mr, H.V. Tewson,
Assnt. Secretary,
T.U.C.,
Transport House,
Smith Square, S.W.1.
Dear Mr. Tewson,
My Spanish Relief Committee decided this afternoon to send to your Spanish Relief Fund the sum of £5,000 which is to be used for food etc., as ordinary relief.
Homes for Spanish Orphans.
The Committee considered Comrade Schevenels' report on the above question, and agreed to be immediately responsible for the financing of two homes in Spain for 100 children each. This my Committee desires to be put into operation immediately. The capital sum for endowment etc., to be discussed with Comrade Schevenels or some responsible person.
From your telephone message this afternoon it appears that contact with Comrade Schevenels will not be possible before he attends the T.U.C. Congress at Blackpool. At Congress arrangements can be made for this meeting to take place. In the meantime I trust you can proceed to put our request into operation so that Congress may be informed of the progress made.
Yours Sincerely,
Ebby Edwards
General Secretary.
