Sir Walter Citrine,
Trades Union Congress General
Council,
Transport House,
Smith Square, S.W.1.
Dear Sir Walter Citrine,
I mentioned the other day when I showed you our latest consignment of garments for Spain that the funds of our Knitting and Clothing Committee are exhausted and that we should be grateful to have a further donation from the International Solidarity Fund in order to keep one or two Committees going.
The position at the moment is that we have overspent our fund by £19. 8/-. If it would be possible to transfer £50 from the Solidarity Fund we could keep one or two Knitting Committees busy for some time ahead.
As a result of our appeal throughout last year we collected just over £400 for the work of our own Committee, but we have issued no appeal since last summer in view of the appeals being made on behalf of International Solidarity and the Milk for Spain Funds.
In view of the desperate need for food, I do not propose at present extending the work of our Knitting Committee, but there are several Committees which have been in existence for over a year and whose members are still most willing
