Mr. W. Schevenels,
The International Federation of Trade Unions,
9 Avenue D'Orsay,
PARIS, VIIe.
Dear Schevenels,
FOOD FOR SPAIN.
I have received your wire to-day and am writing immediately to the Co-operative Wholesale Society asking them to despatch the following goods:-
£1,500 worth of sugar.
500 " " flour.
200 " " rice.
100 " " lentils.
100 " " meat cubes.
100 " " cocoa.
100 " " soap.
I am asking tne Co-operative Wholesale Society to let me know the name of the boat on which the goods are to be sent, the date of sailing and the time of arrival. Immediately I hear anything definite from the Co-operative Wholesale Society I will get into touch with you in order that transport may be arranged.
The total weight of the consignment would appear to be between 230 and 240 tons. It is a very big quantity to move quickly and that is why I made enquiries from you in regard to this point. I was anxious that the goods should not be left in the Docks for a long time because I remember you saying on one occasion when you were here that it was remarkable how cheaply you bought certain consignments on the dockside. There was a suggestion that the consignments were "found"
