Report of the Committee
(I) FORMATION OF THE COMMITIEE
A MEETING convened by Dr Charles Brook, Secretary of the Socialist Medical Association, was held at the National Trade
Union Club, 24 New Oxford Street, W.C.I, on the afternoon of Saturday, August 8, 1936, to discuss the immediate formation of a Medical Unit to be sent to Spain. There were present about forty persons. Dr. H. B. Morgan, the Medical Adviser to the T.U.C., was appointed Chairman of the meeting. Dr. Brook, as Convener, made a statement as to the objects of the meeting. After discussion it was resolved : " That this meeting of doctors, medical students, nurses and others agree to establish a Committee to be charged with the task of preparing immediately to send a Medical Unit or Units to relieve the suffering caused in Spain, and to assist the Spanish Democrats against Spanish aggression, that the name of the Unit be 'The British Medical Unit for Spain,' and that a Committee be formed and that the Committee be named 'The Spanish Medical Aid Committee.' "
(2) COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEE AND SUB-COMMITTEES
The following were appointed original officers and members of the Committee:—
