Dear Sirs,
We beg to confirm our telephonic conversation with you this afternoon relative to your enquiry of yesterday's date in respect of Food Stuffs for shipment to Spain.
In accordance with your instructions, we have now considered this enquiry as a firm order providing shipment can be effected by s.s. HARTBRIDGE loading in Newcastle for Barcelona on Tuesday the 14th instant. We have received authority from the Shipping Co. to send the goods forward by this vessel and we are pleased to advise that we have been successful in obtaining shipment of the following -
Sugar - 8/3d per cwt.
Corned Beef - 48 x 1s
12 x 6s 39/6d
24 x 2s 24/10½d
(In regard to this we require your instructions regarding proportions (received)
Bacon. Canadian Middles 150 at 92/- per cwt. each middle weighs approximately 35 lbs.
Dried Cod. At the moment have only been able to secure 250/275 bales at 34/- per bale of 50 kilos. May be able to increase.
Soap. ( ½ Carbolic ½ Household) 23/- per cwt.
