HELP FOR THE WORKERS OF SPAIN FUND.
The Fund set up by the National Council of Labour as part of the International Fund for the provision of relief in Spain, has now reached a sum of nearly £22,0O0, but collections are still taking place and hundreds of collecting sheets have still to be returned. The National Council are asking holders of such sheets to return all in their possession whether used or not in order that before the end of the year, a complete cheok may be made on all sheets issued.
The Fund which is being administered by a Joint Committee of the International Federation of Trade Unions and the Labour and Socialist International has enabled considerable help to be rendered by the provision of assistance to the wounded and supplies of food and clothing.
Vast quantities of sugar, corned beef, coffee, bacon, biscuits, jam, chocolate, lard, dried and condensed milk, dried fish, cigarettes, and quantities of clothing, including underwear and hosiery for children, have been sent into Spain. In addition, large quantities of medical supplies, including all kinds of anaesthetics, sera, surgical instruments, bandages, etc. have been supplied.
The Fund has contributed nearly £2,000 to the British Medical Unit, now operating at Grenen, near Catalonia, and a grant of £1,000 has been made to the Scottish Medical Unit operating in Madrid.
Contact is still maintained with the Committee in Spain responsible for advising upon the articles required and receiving goods, but special arrangements have had to be made in the North-West area for
