I have been making further enquiries about the possibility of employment being secured for the above two Basque draughtsmen, and I am informed that the experience which they have would appear to warrant their being employed in the capacity of senior draughtsmen whereas all the vacancies which our friend has at his disposal at the present time are for juniors at a salary of about £4 a week.
We are reminded of the added difficulty of language, and in this connection the point arises as to whether the two men's technical British citizenship would make them eligible for employment in this country without the issue by the Authorities of a work permit.   In order to settle this point perhaps you could inform me whether the Hickman brothers travel on British passports or, if not, on what passports they do travel.
We understand that, subject to the approval of the Union concerned, there might be a vacancy for either one of them as a Junior draughtsman with little hope of immediate promotion, and if you could clear up the point
