1st May, 1940.
Dear Mr. Tewson,
I thank you for your letter of the 29th April, enclosing a draft of the letter you suggest sending to the individual seamen. This will, I am sure, serve its purpose admirably, and I have accordingly had it translated into Spanish and attach a copy herewith.
I have also prepared the letter which is to come from us, and bearing in mind your suggestions, I have stressed the necessity of finding employment in whatever capacity may be available. Perhaps you will kindly let me know whether you approve of it, and if so, I will then inform you when we are ready to dispatch it, in order that it may coincide with your own letter.
Up to the present, we have heard that one or more of our engineers at Wallasey have received the necessary permits and are now working in some factory or workshop. We are, however, still awaiting a reply from our Mr. de Legorburu at Northam (Southampton), who is arranging with the management of Harland and Wolff for the employment of twelve or fifteen of our engineers.
Yours very sincerely
Jose de Lizaso
