Dear Sir, Re Spanish Seamen.
With further reference to our correspondence re the above, I instructed our District Secretary, Mr. James to make enquiries regarding accommodation for 250 Spanish seamen in London and I am herewith enclosing you copy of his letter in respect of this matter.
It is impossible to find other accommodation in London, either at the Sailors Home in Dock street, or Jack's Palace, Limehouse, which is another Sailors Home.
If you agree to have all these Spanish seamen concentrated in London will you please make the necessary enquiries of Colonel Mitchell, the Financial Secretary of the Salvation Army. His address is the Salvation Army Hostel, Middlesex Street, E. You will note the charge is to be 15/- per head and they will give them three good meals a day.
I trust these arrangements will be suitable to all concerned.
Yours faithfully,
Geo. Reed
Assistant General Secretary.
