Mr. G. Reed,
The National Union of Seamen,
St Georges Hall,
Westminster Bridge Road,
Dear Mr. Reed,
POSITION OF SPANISH SEAMEN.
As promised on the telephone I am forwarding to you a copy of the circular which has been sent out to Trades Councils at Ports where Spanish ships are lying. You will notice that these are exact copies of the communication, with the appropriate information inserted in each case.
I thought it would be helpful if the appropriate letter could be sent for the information of our Local Secretary in each case.
In connection with Londonderry we have no contact with the Trades Council there, and consequently have not written to them, and will therefore, leave the matter entirely to your machinery.
With regard to the accountancy side of the question it will be necessary, for the satisfaction of our auditors, to provide adequate receipts for monies paid, and I am wondering whether you think we should have a weekly or monthly settlement with you.
With many thanks for your assistance in this matter
Letters. Assistant Secretary.
