SPANISH RELIEF.
I thank you for your letter of the 5th instant, and in view of what you tell me regarding your responsibility for the maintenance of over three hundred Spanish sailors in British ports, and your further commitments for German and Austrian refugees I appreciate that your funds are needed for this work, which I agree is an important one.
It is, however, clear, from your letter that you still need considerable additions to the International Solidarity Fund, if only for the work of looking after Spanish Republican Sailors in British ports.
Our suggestion that you should use your influence with the "Daily Herald" for publicity for help for our Spanish comrades has equal force when applied to the need for donations to your fund to assist Spanish sailors. Why not ask the "Daily Herald", to invite subscriptions through their columns for the maintenance of these Sailors, and for your other work for refugees?
