Senor Jose Rodriguez Vega
Supplementing my letter to you of December 11th, I have had full consultation with the appropriate Authorities about the possibilities of getting Senor Vega over to England, emphasising how useful would be his presence among us. The matter has been carefully considered and the conclusion reached is that the best course Senor Vega could take would be for him to adhere to his present plans and go first to Mexico. The reason is that the air services are irregular and passages not easy to come by and, as you you self indicated, it is urgent that he leave Portugal immediately. It is advisable, therefore, that he take the first available Clipper passage to America and not come to England first.
Once he has reached Mexico and seen his family consideration will be given to the question of making arrangements for him to come over to this country.
In conclusion I would add it was impressed upon me that this information must be treated as most private and confidential. I know there is no need to tell you that none of these details must come to the knowledge of other people.
