Note ; Letter ; Letter (copy) ; Message addressed by the "Workers' General Union" of Spain (U.G.T.) to a group of prominent British Trades-Unionists (translation)
NOTE. 29th April, 1938.
A letter has been sent to the following people by the Spanish Ambassador inviting them to visit Spain as the guests of the Spanish Government as early as possible. The invitation is conveyed by the Ambassador on behalf of Dr. Negrin.
The letter goes on to say that if they are individually unable to make the journey it is hoped that they will appoint one of their National Officers in their stead.
The reason given for the invitation is the desire of the Government to afford the opportunity for responsible people to visit Spain in order to form their own conclusions in regard to the propaganda which is being disseminated in some quarters that the Spanish Government is already beaten.
Mr. Bevin,
Mr. Marchbank,
Mr. Edwards,
Mr. Dukes,
Mr. Squance,
Mr. Little,
Mr. Walker.
