TRANSLATION. no date.
Dear Comrades,
We take the opportunity afforded by an quiet interval in our "no quarter" fight against reaction and the invaders who wish to bring our country under the heel of obscurantism and tyranny, to assure you of our enthusiasm and our firm intention to keep flying the flag of our resistance against the enemy's attacks. Now more than ever, the sinister figures who have invaded Austria and Czechoslovakia will meet in Spain the united bloc of the entire working-class opposing their intention to make Spain into a Fascist colony. But this united strength of the Spanish workers is not enough if they do not evoke in you help and class solidarity. It is for that reason that we ask you to forge iron unity among advanced political sections in your country, in order with them to render impossible the designs of Fascism to consummate once again the invasion of an independent and free nation.
Bear in mind, comrades, that the present conflict in Spain is not only a national fight, but that by reason of the circumstances of the historic moment in which we are living the trenches in Spain are the place where the fight is going on for the final liberation of the workers of the world, and that if some day the enemy, breaking down the formidable resistance of the Spanish workers, passes over our corpses, it will be not only the achievements of the Spanish workers which will be lost, but the social system of Europe which will be brought down, and, as a consequence of that, we would be brought to misery and our civilisation destroyed.
Once more we urge you, comrades of the British Trades' Unions, to apply your strength and your unity against the designs of Fascism, and not to tolerate totalitarian pacts and hesitation, but, to lay down your energetic action once and for all, so that the right of the nations to follow their own road in conformity with liberty, justice and fraternity, may be established.
Only in this manner can we continue to protect Europe and the world from the oppression which the leaders of international Fascism wish to impose on it.
For the independence of Spain, and the achievement of the demands of the workers of the world and of peace of the nations, we shall not halt in our fight until the enemy is conquered.
