Letter: Réunion du Bureau
No. 5
To the Members of the Executive.
Dear Comrades,
As you know, the Spanish National Trade Union Centre has again put forward the proposal for a large International Conference to be organised for Spain. A similar request was received by the LSI from the Spanish Socialist Party, and the Presidents and Secretaries of the two Internationals therefore dealt with this question at a meeting held in Brussels on the 9th February, which noted the conversations which had taken place between Pascual Tomás and Walter Schevenels regarding the scope of invitations to the Conference (these conversations are referred to in the report on Spain already sent to you).
Press statements, however, report that fresh differences have arisen, and in view of this fact, the meeting of the 9th February decided to convene a joint meeting of the IFTU Executive and LSI Bureau, to which representatives of the Spanish Socialist Party and the Spanish National Trade Union Centre will be invited. This meeting will take place on the 17th February, at 3.0 p.m. in the Board Room of the CGT, seventh floor, 213 rue Lafayette, Paris Xe.
We thus feel convinced that you will agree that, under the circumstances, half-a-day out of the time reserved for the Executive meeting should be set apart for this joint meeting with the LSI.
Enclosed you will find Documents Nos. 15, 18,19, and 20 for the IFTU Executive Meeting.
Yours fraternally
W. Schevenels,
General Secretary
Mr. Walter M. Citrine
