Letter - Sit Espagne
No. 135
19th March 1937.
Mr. Walter M Citrine
LONDON.
Dear Comrade Citrine,
Dealing briefly with your letter of the 16th March about Spain, to which I shall revert later, I would inform you that we are getting into touch at once with Dr. Adler to decide whether the LSI or IFTU Secretariat shall draft the history which is to be issued as decided at the London Conference. In any case, whichever way it is decided, the draft will of course have to be approved by both Secretariats before it is issued.
As regards propaganda material, we will of course let you have any suitable material for articles in the Daily Herald, but as regards speakers' notes, I feel that anything which could prove useful in this direction is in any case published in the Bulletin. However, if you have any special kind of information in mind, we will see how best your wishes can be carried out.
As far as the hospital is concerned, you may have overlooked that part of my statement in the London Conference when I announced that the plan for the hospital, which had been definitely decided on, was going ahead, that a sum of one million French francs had already been allocated for this purpose from the International Solidarity Fund, that very large contributions had in addition been received from Belgian organisations - Party, Trade Unions and workers' Friendly Societies (Mutualités), and that a direct contribution of one million pesetas made by the Spanish government had already been utilised to build lifts into and to rebuild part of the building put at our disposal in Onteniente.
