My dear Walter,
I met Senator Branting of Sweden here yesterday. He is exceedingly worried about the Spanish situation and extremely anxious to urge the Transport Unions to refuse to handle munitions or other supplies destined for Spanish ports which are in the hands of the rebels.
I believe he is going to London on Monday or Tuesday to try and establish contact with you and with Ernest Bevan [Bevin]. I undertook as a preliminary step to send you the enclosed letter, in the hope that it would furnish material for your consideration before you meet him. But I am sure you must have all these matters in mind.
With kindest regards,
Yours ever,
Philip Noel-Baker
