I.F.T.U. CONFERENCE ON SPAIN.
I have your letter of the 20th April enquiring as to whether the General Council contemplate issuing a statement in respect of the discussions at the above Conference.
The Conference in question was held under the auspices of the International Federation of Trade Unions and the Labour and Socialist International who are jointly responsible for the issue of any statements in regard to the meetings which have been held of this character. We have had many requests, clearly at the instigation of a particular quarter, that a verbatim report of the discussion should be published. The Conference in question is one of many which have been held under the same auspices on the same question, and it has never been the practice for a full report to be issued.
I appreciate that your letter refers to a "Statement" and not to a "report". I may say, however, that consideration has been given by the National Council of Labour to resolutions
