To All Democratic Organisations:
WHAT CAN WE DO TO SAVE SPAIN?
Friends,
During the last few years there has been a continuous growth of aggression in Europe, Once the idea of collective security and sanctity of agreements had been abandoned, in fact, the gates were thrown wide open to the predatory actions of the Fascist States.
Now the democratic forces have their backs to the wall. Austria has gone down in the silence of Nazi oppression; Czechoslovakia is threatened; and despite the intensity of their ordeal the gallant people of Spain still fight on for freedom.
We, the undersigned Members of Parliament of all political parties, supported by a large number of representative people, invite your organisation to send delegates to
AN EMERGENCY CONFERENCE ON SPAIN Queen's Hall, London, on Saturday, April 23.
We desire to make an emphatic, comprehensive, national, and all-party demand that
the
SPANISH PEOPLE SHALL BE SAVED FROM FOREIGN INVASION and be given the opportunity of working out their own future in free association with other peace-loving countries.
Non-intervention has been used as a screen behind which the Italian and German Governments have carefully felt their way to see how far aggression would be tolerated.
