SPAIN'S NOTE TO F.O.
LONDON, Thursday - The following is the text of a note handed to the Foreign Office this morning by the Spanish ambassador in London:
"On the instructions of my Government I have the honour and profound regret to inform Your Excellency that foreign aviation in the service of the Spanish rebels yesterday bombed the town of Blanes on the Catalonian coast.
Nine persons were killed, thirty-nine were wounded and buildings were destroyed among them the French SAFA factory, although it clearly displayed the French national colours on the roof.
Neither in the town of of Blanes, nor in its vicinity is there any military object which could have justified the bombing from a military point of view, and therefore, referring to the note which the British Charge d'Affaires in Barcelona handed to the Foreign Minister on Saturday, the 25th of the present month and to the reply to the same communication on Monday, the 27th, I have the honour to request of Your Excellency, in the name of my Government that a neutral commission, which was the subject of those notes, proceed as soon as possible to the investigation of the bombing of Blanes, and to the publication of the conclusions which it reaches.
