BRITISH EXPORTS TO SPAIN.
After trying all conceivable ways I have been unable to obtain any comprehensive information which would accurately indicate the division of British exports going to Franco and Government Spain respectively. I have assembled in Table 1. therefore, information relating to British exports going to Spain as a whole. It will be seen from the table that there has been a considerable decline in such exports since the civil war commenced. According to the attached extract taken from the "Financial News" it appears that the bulk of the decline has been concentrated on the ports controlled by Franco. This point of view is supported by table 11. which indicates the decline in the number of British ships arriving in Franco controlled ports during the months of May in 1935 and 1938 respectively.
The bulk of the coal exported from this country to Spain goes from S. Wales and the North East Coast.
