Friends of Spain: report of interview with Mr. W. H. Le Prevost and Mr. M. R. Irming

FRIENDS OF SPAIN.
In accordance with a pre-arranged fixation I saw Mr. W.H. Le Prevost and Mr. M.R. Irming, who accompanied Mr. Le Prevost as Chairman, without any previous intimation.
The interview took place on the afternoon of Monday, the 30th August, 1937.
Le Prevost started by giving me an account of the organisation of the Friends of Spain: said that they were formed in November last, with many friends from the League of Nations Union, and that they were formed with the primary object of doing propaganda work in the London and Provincial press in support of the Republican Government in Spain.  The aim was to have a Political Committee to help the Spanish Government, but to include all sections of political opinion, with no party lines.     The little funds that they had received had been spent on propaganda, and he maintained that their propaganda in the provinces especially, and most of the references there, had been promoted by their organisation with good effect.     They had a growing membership in 47 Branches in England, Wales, and Scotland.
With regard to the special matter connected with the Spanish Medical Committee, Mr. Irming mentioned his letter of the 7th August, 1937, to Mr. George Jeger, the Organising Secretary of the Spanish Medical Aid Committee, offering his services in connection with the proposed Memorial Meeting. He said that he had a meeting with Mr. Jeger on the 12th and 14th August, and that the arrangements then made were incorporated in his letter of the 14th August, which he regarded as a confirmation of the arrangements made and an agreement.
