Many thanks for your letter of the 10th October in which you forward a copy of the circular and accompanying document which you have received from the above named organisation. In reply to your request for comments, I may say that of course this Association is at the present time under communist control. The event with which the communication which you have received purports to deal, is the decision of the French Government to deport 150 persons to Algeria.
You are aware that France offered asylum to a large number of Spaniards some years ago at the conclusion of the war in Spain. Some 180 of them are regarded by the French authorities having abused this hospitality by forming
