Thank you for your letter of the 24th October in which you enclose on the instruction of your National Executive Committee a copy of the communication which you have received from the International Brigade Association.
I shall be glad if you will inform your Executive Committee that we have made certain enquiries on the complaint made in the communication in question. It concerns the decision of the French Government to deport 150 persons to Algeria.
You will recall that France offered asylum to a large number of Spaniards some years ago at the conclusion of the war in Spain. Some 180 of these persons are regarded by the French
